Toyota today launched a petrol variant of its popular utility vehicle, Innova, which will allow the Japanese auto maker to sell the vehicle in Delhi and the national capital region (NCR).
The 2,700-cc engine petrol vehicle has been launched at Rs 13.72 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi) and the top variant comes for Rs 19.62 lakh.
Toyota has not been able to sell its diesel Innova and Fortuner in Delhi and the NCR since second half of December 2015 after a Supreme Court order banned sales of diesel vehicles with an engine capacity of 2,000 cc and above, to curb pollution.
An order based on the plea of impacted auto makers has been reserved for over a month. The decision led a severe blow to companies like Toyota and Mercedes. Toyota's sales was impacted for several months after the ban as NCR is a major market for such vehicles.
