Sometimes, a line has to be drawn somewhere. Motorcycles and their makers’ obsession with horsepower is one such place. Sure, more power is a good thing but there's always something called practicality. And usability. Take the MV Agusta Brutale, for example. Powered by a 1078cc motor that whips out 142-odd bhp, that's plenty of power all right - much, much more power than that an average rider is ever going to explore on the road.
But now, they've come up with the Cannonball, a Brutale on steroids. Available as a kit, the stuff includes a reworked cylinder head, valves, cams, tweaked ECU and an all-titanium exhaust system - all of which add 20 plus horses. Weight saving comes from an assortment of aluminium and carbon fibre bits that are also available. Now seriously, just where does this stop, we wonder.
