Tata Motors launches Bolt hatchback in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh

Tata Motors Limited, the country's largest automobile maker, launched Bolt, its new hatchback car, in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh markets on Tuesday. Bolt is the company's second launch in five months, with the first being its compact sedan Zest.

"An intense product focus is key to our strategy and bolt takes this to the next level," Timothy A Leverton, president and head (advanced and product engineering), Tata Motors, told mediaperons here.

Powered by a new Revotron 1.2 turbocharged petrol engine and equipped with ConnectNext touchscreen infotainment by Harman, the first in the segment, Bolt is priced between Rs 445,666 and Rs 609,510 (ex-showroom, Hyderabad) for the petrol variants, and Rs 555,672 and Rs 708,600 for the diesel variants.

Stating that there was intense competition in the Indian passenger car market, where 220,000 units are sold every month including 100,000 compacts, he said over 12,000 units were sold in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana markets per month, of which 50 per cent was hatchbacks.
