Volkswagen has come clean (and green)! In a conversation with Volkswagen officials, BS Motoring has discovered that the new Volkswagen Passat that is scheduled to be launched in India this year is going to be the Passat BlueMotion.
The most striking feature of the Passat BlueMotion is that it consumes a claimed 4.9 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres. The car also has CO2 emissions as low as 128g/km.
Also aiding decreased fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions are the following technologies. The Passat BlueMotion comes with start-stop technology that aids city driving. The car also features longer gear ratios, low-friction drive shafts, super reduced rolling resistance tyres and extra lightweight wheels made of flow-formed steel. The material thickness of these wheels is lower in certain sections to save on weight. The BlueMotion package of course always includes the particulate filter.
The Passat BlueMotion is set to be launched in India between the months of March and April 2011.
