Nissan to launch car for Indian market at Auto Show 2016

Japanese carmaker Nissan is expected to launch another car for the Indian market at the Delhi Auto Show 2016. Nissan is also expected to launch a third car in the Datsun range on the concept of Ready Go. This is expected in the third quarter of 2016.

The Datsun Ready Go will be made on the Common Module Family, a platform that is an arrangement between alliance partners Nissan and Renault to build a wider range of cars from a smaller pool of parts, resulting in cost savings.

Renault's latest launch, Kwid, is based on this module. Nissan's strategy this year is to increase market share from the current 1.5 percent to five percent in the Indian passenger car segment, where sales amounted to over 2.6 million cars in 2014-15, up 3.9 percent year-on-year. Towards this end, the company will also augment its dealer network to 300 this year.
