Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its Xylo-based pick-up truck – the Genio. Pitched as a next-generation pick-up, the 1.2 tonne pick-up aims to cater to the small and medium-scale businesses. The Bharat Stage-3 variant is priced at Rs. 4.99 lakhs, ex-Navi Mumbai and a BS-IV version is also available, the price of which remains unknown. It’s powered by a 75 hp 2500cc MDi CRDe engine which makes 22.4 kgm of torque and takes the Genio to a top-speed of 120 kph. The exteriors, especially the front-end elements, have undergone a facelift to make it look fresh and different. There will be a single-cab on offer at the moment, with a double cab coming in later. Though it has power steering, it has no air conditioning option, as well as no head rests on the seats. At the moment, there is no 4-wheel drive variant, though independent front suspension and a short turning radius of 6.15 metres is on offer. The pickup will be exported to various countries by Mahindra.
