The TVS Motor Company launched its latest offering in the executive commuter segment today. Called the Phoenix, the motorcycle is powered by a newly developed 125 cc 'EcoThrust' motor that is claimed to be both refined and frugal. The motor is good for 10.8 bhp @ 8000 rpm and returns a claimed 67 kpl under standard riding conditions.

The company has claimed that the Phoenix will combine style with comfort, with 'premium ride quality' as a bonus. The features list includes a backlit digital speedo and fuel gauge, a trip meter, a service reminder and soft touch controls. Perhaps a segment first, the Phoenix also boasts of hazard lamps, yes, those blinky things that all cars these days have.

To keep you happy in the saddle, TVS has fitted the Phoenix with a five-step adjustable 'series spring' shocks at the rear and a tall handlebar for comfort. Prices are pegged at Rs. 53000 ex-showroom for the disc braked version while the variant with a drum brake at the fore will cost you Rs. 51,000 ex-showroom.

A detailed evaluation by BSM of the Phoenix will follow soon, so stay tuned!
