Gujarat's first Auto Show kicks off today

Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar will host the 'AutoShow Gujarat 2014' from Friday. The three-day event has been organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Industrial Extension Bureau (IndextB), Government of Gujarat while South Korea is the partner country for the event.

Nitin R. Gokarn, CEO, National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP); Rashmi Urdhwareshe, director, Automotive Research Association of India, Randhir Singh Kalsi, executive director, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and others will be present at the inaugural function of the show.

Some of the leading auto companies participating in the event include Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Philips, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Ford India, Renault, Rolls Royce, BMW Bikes, BMW Cars & Jaguar Land Rover.

Among other programmes planned to promote the show, a Rock Show would be held on November 29, while a Design Competition on November 28 and a Bike Rally on the last day of the event (from Vallabh Sadan, Sabarmati Riverfront to Mahatma Mandir).

Special business-to-business (B2B) meetings will also be held on the first day of the event, which will also see participation from research and development (R&D) institutions from India and some of the leading experts from the industry.

Auto Show in Gujarat holds significance for the entire industry, as it provides a platform to showcase latest products before a highly targeted audience.
