General Motors launches new diesel variant of Cruze

General Motors has launched the updated Chevrolet Cruze. A couple of months ago, BSM had predicted that the Cruze was just around the corner and would come with an upgraded engine and a few cosmetic changes. Spot on then!

The new car has the same 2.0-litre VCDi engine but it now comes with a bumped up power output (163 bhp vs 144bhp). The engine is mated to a new 6-speed manual transmission. The 6-speed auto box that did service in the old Cruze will also be available, but that's reserved for the top-end variant alone. All these changes should make the car faster as well as more efficient. Expect to hit the tonne in just around 10 seconds and if you keep your foot down on the pedal long enough, it'll go up all the way to 220 kph. Quick car! Plus, because its a diesel, you won't be visiting the petrol station all that often.

The updated Cruze launched outside of India comes with redesigned fog lamps. But the one in India doesn't get this updated look. At the most, the car now sports a new set of alloy wheels.

On the inside, the car gets two-way electrically adjustable driver's seat and a bit more space at the rear.

Prices start at Rs 13.58 lakh for the base LT version and go up to Rs 15.67 lakh for the LTZ Auto variant.
