US auto major Ford Motor today announced that Nigel Harris, Ford India president, and managing director, will be moving to a new position as President of Changan Ford, company's joint venture in Chongqing, China. The company said that name of the person who will succeed Harris will be announced later.
In the interim, Anurag Mehrotra, company's Executive Director for Marketing, sales and service will oversee the responsibilities of Ford India's Managing Director in addition to his current job, said the company in an announcement.
David Schock, company's Chief Financial Officer, will take on additional responsibilities for operational matters.
Harris took over as Ford India's Managing Director and President in February 2014. During his tenure, the company launched an integrated facility in Sanand, Gujarat and there was a product-led transformation by bringing products Indian customers want and value.
Harris as a seasoned business leader has been asked to lead Changan Ford because of his prolific marketing and sales experience in China and the Asia Pacific Region.
The announcement marks another opportunity for our leadership to express their commitment to the growth of talent at Ford.
Dave Schoch, company's President for Asia Pacific in a statement said, "our commitment to building a strong business in India and Asia Pacific remains steadfast, and so does our commitment for our people to grow. We have an experienced leadership team in India, and we are confident that we will continue to drive the company forward during this transition."
