The FIA has declared war on the diffuser loophole, which means teams will have to make modifications to the designs of their diffusers in time for the Australian GP. Among the teams who will be affected by the FIA's decision are McLaren and Mercedes GP, while two other teams are reportedly also under the scanner. The decision was taken after the FIA and the teams concerned discussed the matter post the Bahrain GP about the size of starter motor holes in the diffusers. The FIA has sent teams a note stipulating the maximum diameter for the holes and the maximum projected area.
The other teams believed to be forced to make a change to their diffusers are Renault and Force India, and this change will have to be made before the Australian GP, scheduled to run on March 28.
