Daimler India Commercial Vehicle, the 100% subsidiary of Daimler AG, Germany, will roll out six products under the 'Bharat Benz' trucks brand this year, a top company official said today.
Daimler India's Rs 4,400 crore manufacturing facility in Oragadam was formally inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in April this year.
"We are planning six variants (Bharat Benz range of truck) to hit the market by December," DICV Vice-President Marketing and Sales, After Sales, V R V Sriprasad told reporters at the Oragadam plant, 50 km from here.
He said the first product to be unveiled by September will be a 25-tonner rigid truck with 230HP.
In addition to this, a 25-tonner construction vehicle -- fully built tipper and a 31-tonner GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) with 230HP would be launched, he said.
"We are also thinking to launch a nine-tonner and a 12-tonner (range of trucks) this year", he said.
The manufacturing plant is expected to produce about 1,500-2,000 units in the next three months. The plant will have a total capacity of 36,000 units under the first phase with single shift operations, Prasad said.
