Bugatti Veyron successor to get 1500 hp with electric turbochargers

Almost all the 450 examples of Bugatti Veyron have been sold with just another 15 or so awaiting to find their buyers. Bugatti has been contemplating Veyron’s successor for quite some time now and there have been many speculations about it. Some reports suggested that the company is working on three different concepts for the successor while some said that the forthcoming model would be named ‘Chiron’. Now reports are surfacing that the Bugatti Chiron would be able to produce a groundbreaking 1500 hp with the help of electric turbochargers.

Bugatti Chiron is expected to be powered by the same 8.0-litre W12 engine as the Veyron but as a more modified version. The engine will make use of direct injection and high pressure electric turbo chargers to get the outrageous power output. The Chiron is also believed to have a top speed of over 463 km/h with the 0 to 100 km/h sprint coming in under 2.5 seconds. The new car is expected to follow the same styling of the Veyron but in a more evolved design theme.

The Chiron will be much lighter in weight with a more spacious cabin inside. According to some spy shots, the car’s stopping power is offered by huge carbon ceramic brakes and active aerodynamics for complete control. The launch date of the Chiron has been pushed back to 2016 now and Bugatti is believed to be working on a Speedster version of the Veyron to fill up the gap. Watch this space for more info.
