Auto Expo 2016 attracts record number of manufacturers

Mumbai: SIAM, or the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, has promised that the 2016 edition of its annual showpiece event, the Auto Expo in Delhi, will be “bigger, better and more exciting”.
Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2016 is being organised by SIAM with the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). It will be held from February 5 to 9 in NOIDA.

The venue, India Expo Mart Limited (IEML), has undergone a makeover to increase the gross indoor exhibition space from 62,000 square metres in previous years to 68,000 sq m. Six large halls have been set up with an additional carpet area of 37,240 sq m complete with air-conditioning and adequate power supply cabling.

The venue previously had only eight permanent halls measuring 27,648 sq m. As a result, at the 2014 edition the remaining display was curated in temporary hangers measuring 32,400 sq m.
Six lakh visitors are expected to show up at Auto Expo 2016 during the five days when the event remains open to the public. This is almost 20% more than at the last edition.

The previous edition saw 55 exhibitors, but SIAM already has 65 companies lined up for 2016, and more are showing an interest. Among the vehicle manufacturers who will be present are Ashok Leyland, Audi, BMW, Datsun, Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaguar Land Rover, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Renault, Scania Commercial Vehicles, SML Isuzu, Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, VE Commercial Vehicles, and Volkswagen.

In the two-wheeler segment, Hero MotoCorp, India Yamaha, Mahindra 2-wheelers, Piaggio, Suzuki Motorcycles, Triumph Motorcycles, and TVS Motor Company will be showcasing their products and technologies.

Auto Expo 2016 will also see many new entrants such as Abarth, BMW Motorrad, Jeep, DSK Benelli, and Indian Motorcycles.

Along with vehicle manufacturers, the expo will have high-end bicycles, tyres and tubes, oil companies, automotive design and technology, engineering and IT for automobile companies, institutions, universities, insurance companies, and media and auto portals/ publications in attendance.
Some things will not change, however, like the popular pavilion of vintage cars and an activity area where outdoor activities such as safety riding and driving simulators will take place.
Free and frequent shuttle services have been arranged from the Botanical Garden metro station to the venue, which will boast of a variety of renowned food vendors. The space for the food court has been increased by 1,000 square metres.

Tickets for the event can be booked at www.autoexpo-themotorshow.in and www.bookmyshow.com The tickets are priced at Rs650 for business hours on weekdays (10am-1pm), Rs300 for the general public hours on weekdays (1pm-6pm), and Rs400 for weekends (10am-7pm). Tickets booked before December 31, 2015, will be delivered home free (for a minimum lot of 3 tickets).
