Done
this road on the diwali weekend, still :) :) :)
Need
a bike that's a lot faster than my P180 tho !! traffic on
that road...(scratch, scratch) I guess we musta seen a few
trucks and buses. The road is absolutely awesome and I am
kicking myself that I had not discovered this place in my
last seven odd yrs on a bike around here :( The last stretch
from Padmapur to Moharli (~17 km is dirt) stay at Moharli
at the rather expensive (from a bike trip point of view) MTDC
or at more reasonably priced acco at Chandrapur.
Tadoba
is a national park. No bikes allowed inside. You can ride
till Moharli. What we did - did this ride with three other
wanderers - was to hire a sumo (ugh!) from Chandrapur to gain
entry to the park proper. Did not see a tiger (but guys in
another jeep did spot a tigress and cubs). You have to hang
around the "canting" between 11 and 3 while stripes and his
prey snooze.
There
is an interesting alternate route which involves getting past
the mehboob ghat (Adilabad) and doing 70 odd klicks of interior
road (some stretches quite bad) to get to Ballarpur. Did that
on the way out. Would recommend the Asifabad option.
