The
road till mandya is very good. But 20 KM stretch from mandya
is very bad. Rest is quite O.K. The place is very nice and
two amazing falls are worth to travel to shivasamudram. No
Hotels or restaurants in shiva carry food. Ashish Sawant
The
road between maddur and malavalli is in bad shape , with too
many pot holes . I tried this route as on oct 2005. Jatin

On
15th Oct '05, I drove to Shivanasamudram from Bangalore. On
my way to Shivanasamudram I used Kanakapura and on the way
back was thru, Mandya-Mysore Rd-Bangalore. Roads are pathetic.
It is impossible to drive. The only decent stretch is the
part of Mysore Rd from Mandya to BLR. Even here the construction
is in progress. Overall the drive can make this a very bad
experience. Madhav Sitaram
Try
Bangalore-Maddur-Malvalli & proceed towards Kollegal. You
will find Shivan Samudra (aka Bluff) on your way. You can
cover Bangalore- Maddur stretch using the highway linking
Bnagalore-Mysore, then fork towards Kollegal after reaching
Maddur. This stretch is a state highway, but is scenic as
you near Shivana Samudra. The trip down the trolley leading
to the power generating station is a must in Shivana Samudra.
It is really interesting to see European machinery (generators
& fans) dating almost 100 years still functioning! Happy travelling.
