The Polo Cup made a return to the Kari Motor Speedway for Round Three of the Volkswagen Polo Cup Championship, and as you can imagine, it certainly was a thriller. Engines were revved to the limit, plenty of diesel was guzzled away, and the wheel-banging action kicked off.
Sailesh Bolisetti, who won the first two races of the championship in Pune, returned to his winning ways at Round 3, taking victory in the first race at Coimbatore. Sailesh finished the second race in second position. The two podiums more than made up for the ground that he might have lost in the second round of the championship, giving him enough points to get to the head of the points standings. Finishing second in race one, was Vishnu Prasad. And while rookie driver, Munjal Sawla chased the leading pair and fought hard for third place, Saahil Shelar managed to pip him to the podium towards the end of the race.
In the second race, Parth Ghorpade managed a fine win, coming up from the middle of the field and taking position from Samyak Shah. Sailesh, who started the race in seventh, managed to claw his way to third place. Samyak Shah lost out and finally finished fourth, behind Sailesh and Fahad Kutty.
Karthik Shankar didn't have too good a race weekend, finishing his races in sixth and tenth. This means he loses the championship lead and is now in fourth. Sailesh heads the championship with 188 points, Vishnu Prasad is in second with 163 points and Parth Ghorpade is third with 151 points.
