The 2013 Ducati Multrastrada S, Pikes Peak and the Granturismo


The advert claims that the Multistrada is a sportsbike, a touring motorcycle, a naked and a street enduro all rolled into one. It’s not just marketing bull either – every review that you’ll read on the motorcycle will say only one thing – its amazing how well the Multistrada manages to blend all these varied roles into one motorcycle. It might just be the world’s most versatile bike. Now, for 2013, things just got better. You now get a new-generation ABS system, semi-active ‘Skyhook’ suspension which dynamically adjusts to your riding style and various conditions in order to provide optimum performance along with other Ducati whiz bang – Ride by Wire, Traction Control and Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban & Enduro). For the hardcore (and well heeled) touring enthusiasts, there is the top-of-the-line Mutlistrada Granturismo will be on offer with fantastic-looking hard panniers, a top-box, LED lights, touring tyres and a bigger wind screen.
For the ones who prefer something racier, there’s the Pikes Peak edition, a motorcycle derived from the Multistrada race motorcycle that ran the Pikes Peak earlier this year and won with Greg Tracy onboard. Besides the stunning paint scheme, you get top-shelf carbon fibre bits, a Termignoni exhaust and a racy Marchesini wheels.
Let’s not forget that the whole range now gets a new, second-gen Testastretta L-Twin that makes 5 percent more torque than before, courtesy a dual-spark plug head. With 150 horsepower, 6.7 inches of travel front and rear and a truck load of electronics, this just be the ultimate do-it-all motorcycle on sale today.
