‘Pune to Goa in a Nano? Are you nuts?’ was the first typical question everyone asked me when I told them that I’m driving down in the smallest Tata car all the way to the fun state. If you think the crowded confines of the city are all that the Nano can handle, think again! Oh yes, it’s quite obviously no Expressway-scorcher but the most pleasant surprise of our 550 kms-odd run was that this cheerful car was so much fun out on the backroads. Fueled up and tire pressures up to mark, we started our leg of the Nano Superdrive from Pune, mixed it up with much bigger machinery on the highway right up to Kolhapur before turning off towards Goa, driving on delightful and scenic pieces of B-roads all the way to Goa. Early monsoon showers and the associated sights and sounds (and aromas), pretty as ever, made us give this drive a near-5 star rating. Surely, a special one for your personal diary. Watch out for the full drive story in the upcoming July issue of BSM. Catch the ‘Nano Superdrive’ as they head down from Goa towards Manglore, Banglore, Chennai and Kochi. Three Nanos with bright and funky paintjobs are hard to miss. So make sure you catch them as they make their way towards the southern parts of India.
