The Tata Nano has had a tumultous short life, from production related issues to product related to deliveries and what not. But Tata Motors is keen to put its past behind and what we have here is the new Tata Nano 2012.
We had told you last week about the raft of changes and here they are in detail. The new Nano now comes in ten exterior colour options, eight of them all new. Other exterior changes include new wheel caps for the LX and half-wheel caps for the CX model and a left-side mirror on both trims, a complaint a majority of people have had since day one.
On the inside, the exterior colour theme has been even carried on the inside. Tata Motors have also made subtle changes to the air-conditioning to improve efficiency. New seat trim for both the CX and LX have been incorporated as well.
Mechanically, quite a few changes have been made. The 624cc, petrol engine has seen a rise in power from 34 bhp to nearly 37 bhp while torque has seen a 0.3 kgm rise as well. All these improvements have helped the Tata Nano's fuel efficiency figure rise from 23.6 kpl to 25.4 kpl. Another feather in the Nano's cap has been a slightly reduced C02 figure, which now stands at 92.7 g/km, the lowest among production cars in India.
The Nano's prices remain unchanged, with the Nano Standard priced at Rs 1.40 lakh, the CX at Rs 1.7 lakh and the LX at Rs 1.96 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi
