Skoda will be launching the Yeti facelift on the 10th of September. The facelift variant comes exactly four years later, as the Yeti was launched back in September 2010. This was the first compact SUV for the Indian car market and we believe it was a bit ahead of its time. The compact SUV market opened up and grew in numbers with the Renault Duster and then the Ford Ecosport took over. The Yeti is however a lot more expensive than the other two.
The Yeti facelift was first showcased at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was unveiled in two different variants- Yeti and Yeti Outdoor, which have already launched in several international markets. The former has been designed for the urban buyers, while the Yeti Outdoor, in contrast, targets the off-roading enthusiasts.
For the Indian market, the 2.0-litre TDI is being offered with different states of tuning, one is a 108bhp and the other is the 138bhp. The first is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the second comes mated to a six-speed manual. While the urban friendly SUV will be offered with front-wheel drive, while the Outdoor will be made available with both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options.
The Yeti comes loaded with features such as body-coloured bumpers, side protective mouldings and rear panels to give a smoother, sleeker look. On the other hand, the Outdoor Yeti gets the black plastic mouldings that perfectly suit with the SUV's rugged and adventurous image. Additionally, the facelifted Yeti comes equipped with new alloy wheel designs and fresh interior design features including new seat fabrics, decorative trim pieces and steering wheels. There are eight airbags in the new Yeti and it is available only in the Elegance trim. There isn’t a major change on the inside of the Yeti.
