Skoda launches Octavia at Rs 13.95 lakh


Czech car company SkodaAuto today brought back its most popular brand in India Octavia priced at Rs 13,95,000 (ex-showroom New Delhi). The company had discontinued the model in 2010 after it did not upgrade the sedan to suit new emission norms.

The company has launched the car with three engine options (two petrol and one diesel) and seven variants. The fully loaded top-end version will cost Rs 1,945,000. Buyers will get the option to chose from manual and automatic versions to.

With the relaunch of the Skoda Octavia has moved up the value chain. The earliest base version of the Octavia was priced at Rs 10.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) twelve years ago. At that price the Octavia will compete against the Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Elantra, Maruti Suzuki Kizashi, Renault Fluence, Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta.

SkodaAuto India has a network of 98 sales and 91 service outlets across the country and has sold over 1,80,000 units since November 2001. It has set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Shendra near Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
