The biggest BMW sedan you can buy today, at least in terms of size – the 7-Series – has now been significantly updated for the year 2013. This new 7-Series is more of a subtle evolution to the earlier model, not the big update everyone was expecting from BMW.
Using an eight-speed transmission throughout the range, the new models claim to have 20% better efficiency in the EU cycle. The 750i gets a 4.4-litre V8 with 45 more horsepower and can nail 0-100 kph in 4.7 seconds (claimed) while the 740i gets a 315 horsepower inline-six. The 740i and the 750i will also come with an ‘ECO PRO’ driving mode – like the new 3-Series – which helps and guides the driver to achieve better fuel economy.
Externally, there are subtle updates – the famous kidney grille has lesser vertical slats, there are horizontal chrome embellishments on the front bumper, lean new mirrors, refreshed taillights, slightly more aggressive-looking headlamps and on the 760i, BMW will also offer Adaptive LED headlights. They monitor the car’s direction and accordingly align themselves to illuminate objects around corners.
