Stepped nose? Yes. Might as well get that out of the way before we move onto the rest of the piece. The STR7 also features a stepped nose, like the most of the other 2012 F1 cars that have been launched.
The Ferrari powered Toro Rosso is the third car that has been completely designed and fabricated by the Scuderia Toro Rosso team. After finishing the 2011 season in eighth place, the squad will be looking for a better finish in 2012, and this time around, they've got two very young and competitive drivers to help them achieve that goal.
Daniel Ricciardo, who drove 11 races for the HRT squad last year will be partnered by Jean-Eric Vergne. While Ricciardo is eager to try and establish himself as number one in the team, Vergne has said that the pressures of working for a team as large as STR would help him, as would the challenges of partnering Ricciardo.
But there a few ruffled feathers that have just flown out the STR nest. Jaime Alguersuari who drove for the team last year declares that he had verbally been confirmed as a driver for the 2012 season as well. However, when in December he was informed that he was no longer to be a part of the team, he was hurt, the former British F3 Champion declared.
Meanwhile Toro Rosso's technical director, Giorgio Ascanelli stated that the STR7 was not as aggressive as it ought to have been. He also declared that the team would make changes to the nose cone and further changes would also appear on the car over the course of the season.
