Sant Longwal Institute wins Baja 2011


The 4th edition of the JK Tyre Baja SAE India 2011 has concluded at Pithampur, near Indore. And what an event it's been! Around 1700 engineering students from 79 colleges across the country took part in the event that involves building a Baja buggy, and putting it through its paces at the NATRIP facility.

Taking home the overall trophy at the Baja 2011 were Sant Longwal Institute of Engineering and Technology in Punjab, who scored 801 points out of a maximum of 1,000 points. The college had also managed to win the Baja in 2009. In second place was G H Raisoni College of Engineering from Pune, with 768 points. SKN College of Engineering, Pune came third with 751 points.

Sanjay Sharma, head, Motorsports, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, while congratulating the winners said, 'The JK Tyre BAJA SAE India is becoming popular because of the immense support from both the student and college community across the country. It is indeed an excellent platform for budding engineers to enhance their technological, leadership and managerial skills to equip them to be competitive in a fiercely global marketplace. The event is growing every year and we want more and more colleges to participate in this competition.'
