A Porsche 911 droptop is rather charming. Countless Hollywood films such as Mission Impossible II, Ocean's Eleven and even Nine Months has had the rear-engined cabriolet sports car figure in a few scenes. Whether you are basking in the sun in Miami or driving down the French coast, the 911 cabriolet makes for a perfect partner. And now, there's yet another one to figure on that list.
Say hello to the new 991 Porsche 911 cabriolet. With a unique, all soft top and the 991's newfound appeal, the 911 cabriolet weighs less, is sportier and has more space too. A new lightweight composite fabric cabrio roof that uses magnesium is the star of the new 911 cabriolet. The roof structure can be raised or stowed into place at speeds up to 60 kph.
Both the regular Carrera with a 3.4-litre, 350 bhp boxer-six and a 3.8-litre, 400 bhp motor are available. Like the coupe, one has a choice of either the PDK, dual-clutch automatic or a seven-speed manual gearbox, both of which boast of shorter acceleration times and even lower fuel consumption.
The new 911 twins (coupe and cabriolet) will go on sale in 2012 in India.
