A couple of months ago, we heard speculation of Volvo teaming up with Polestar to create a performance version of the S60 sedan you see on display here in India too. Now, Volvo and performance cars are not phrases you would expect to hear in the same line but as it turns out, they’ve made a special one off of the S60 for a one off, extremely lucky client.
What they've done is taken the already horse heavy T6 from the normal S60 and given it the turbo charger treatment. It now produces... wait for it... wait for it... FIVE HUNDRED AND EIGHT HORSEPOWER. Read that last line again to get a grip of things and now add 55.9 kgm of torque to the equation, that's 208bhp and 13.7 kgm of torque more than the standard S60, which isn't really a slow car by itself. What this means is that, you can now reach a tonne in 3.9 seconds – Take that 911!
Other tweaks include a six-speed manual transmission, increased track of 20 mm up front and 40 mm out back and a stainless steel exhaust. Weight has been reduced by 93 kg as compared to the normal S60, and naturally, there's lots of Acantara on the inside.
Volvo, take note here. We love the new Blue Polestar paint job, we love the striking looks of the S60, we love how it looks so discretely menacing and we know as a matter of fact that it’s as safe as a house. Now, Please go ahead with production and bring some to India.
