It's official! Peugeot has announced that they will definitely re-enter the Indian market! And the company's first offering for the country will be a mid-sized sedan. Peugeot will commence both commercial and industrial operations in India shortly. While they are still trying to settle on a location for the plant, BSM has exclusive information that the plant will be based in Andhra Pradesh. Dr Rajesh Nellore has been appointed managing director for the company's India operations.

On Peugeot's India move, Grégoire Olivier stated 'India is a key market and this new implantation reflects our ambition to become a global player. As in China, we will offer Indian customers vehicles adapted to their expectations.' Olivier is member of the managing board and executive vice-president of the Asia area.

The company has made clear it's three main goals for 2011 - to become more global, be a step ahead in services and products and reinforce its operational efficiency. Its objective is to reach a share of 50% of its sales outside Europe by 2015, compared to 39% in 2010.
