You know you're not talking about normal cars when the smaller of the two engines is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine making 500 bhp! We are, of course, talking about the new Bentley Continental GT V8. To be positioned as the sporty alternative to the W12 engined Continental, this new one features a few nice touches that lend it that sportiness. For starters, the V8 engine is about 50 kg lighter than the W12, which doesn't sound like much on a car this heavy, but then again, you are reducing the weight from the front end, so it's bound to make a difference in the handling of the car.
The V8 sounds sportier than the W12 too, with a unique exhaust design, with a moveable flap for emissions purposes. The gearbox has been upgraded to an 8-speed unit which can shift down up to four gears to bring the engine into the meat of the powerband. Overall, you end up with a car that's nimbler, lighter and easier on the pocket than the old car. Quite an accomplishment, we say!
