Yes, folks, that’s the new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle. Yeah, take it in for a minute, let it sink in, throw away all the cutesy mental pictures you have of the earlier Beetles and get ready to program in a whole new Beetle into your world. Gone are the cutesy curvy lines of the earlier Beetles, and here we have a whole new design with more masculine lines than ever before. It sort-of comes across as Dodge idea of a Beetle, doesn’t it?
Still, ignoring the fact that more than half the Beetle fan club is going to be up in arms, it’s not exactly bad looking. You won’t go all coochie-coo looking at it, but that’s the point you see – most guys would think twice about getting the last-generation Beetle, owing to the softer, more feminine appeal but this, they might just end up buying one. Would you? In Volkswagen’s defence, the fact remains that whatever you do with such an iconic design, there are going to be people unsatisfied with it.
