Mercedes-Benz to launch GLE 450 AMG on January 12

December 28, 2015: Mercedes-Benz, which launched 15 new models in 2015 in India and reported a successful year, is off to a quick start in the New Year, launching its GLE 450 AMG Coupe on January 12.

The model combines typical coupe attributes including sportiness, dynamism and agility with the versatility and robustness of an SUV. The GLE Coupe is the new addition to the successful portfolio of Mercedes-Benz coupes.

Despite the similarity to an SUV with its raised seating position and an all-round view that is expansive for a coupé, the occupants are led to believe that they are in sports rather than off-road mode. The sound is reminiscent of powerful sports cars and, combined with the spontaneous and direct response to all commands, is guaranteed to get the pulse racing.

The model is being imported as a CBU. The GLE 450 AMG Coupe is powered by a 2,996 cc, V6 turbocharged petrol engine producing 362 BHP @ 5,500-6,000 rpm and 520 Nm of torque @ 1,800-4,000 rpm. It accelerates 0 to 100 kph in 5.7 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz has the densest network penetration for a luxury car segment with 81 outlets across 40 cities in India.

The German company reported a stellar growth performance during the first nine months of the year in India, registering a robust 34 per cent growth in the January-September period. It sold 10,079 units, equivalent to the entire sales of 2014.

Its portfolio in India comprises the New Generation Cars, the sedans, the SUVs and the AMG performance cars. The CLA, the C-Class and the E-Class sedans spearheaded the sales volumes of Mercedes-Benz, coupled with strong performance from the SUV portfolio as well.
