Mercedes-Benz and its onslaught of launches doesn't seem to be relenting any time soon. They have gone ahead and added yet another engine variant to their E-Class lineup. Called the E 200 CGI BlueEfficiency, the car features the same 1.8-litre turbocharged unit found on the C200 CGI and produces around 183 bhp of peak power and nearly 30 kgm of peak torque.
The E 200 CGI in fact produces more torque than the E 250 V6, which means not only would it accelerate quicker than the V6, it would also deliver better efficiency while at it. Using Mercedes-Benz' proprietary Blue Efficiency tech, the E 200 CGI is kinder to the environment too, producing a lesser CO2 figure than the supercharged kompressor unit based on the same engine block.
Mercedes-Benz India have priced the car at Rs 38.76 lakh, ex-showroom Pune and Rs 39.5 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. This makes it the fifth engine on offer in the E-Class saloon range after the E 350 V6, E 350 CDI, E 250 V6 and E 250 CDI.
