Britain has been at the centre of all the mouthwatering news from the auto world this week. Goodwood kicked off a couple of days ago and there's been a lot of stuff to write home about. Just yesterday, we brought you news about an upgraded MP4-12C which will be driven at Goodwood by none other than Jenson Button tomorrow.
Well, there's more from Mclaren. They've just sent us a teaser of the new MP4-12C convertible hardtop. They haven't really released any specs or numbers but we're pretty sure it'll be powered by the same twin turbo-charged engine from the coupe. The engine recently got a small bump in power and now produces 616bhp of power, good for a 0-100kmph time of 3.0 seconds.
More importantly though, we believe it will be just as quick as the coupe. You see, the MP4-12C is based on a carbon fibre tub chassis unlike a conventional aluminium space frame. Chopping off the roof in this case should have a negligible reduction in stiffness. What we're also expecting is an innovative roof folding mechanism.
Mclaren is hinting they want the convertible to be as usable as the coupe on an everyday basis. Sounds good, doesn't it? The launch is scheduled for the 3rd of July. Exciting times ahead!
