There is a reason why the Logan is an excellent taxi/fleet car. Acquisition costs are reasonable and its underpinnings are invincible enough to handle virtually all kinds of terrain. But most importantly, it makes the rear passenger feel like a king, with plenty of space on offer plus a plush ride quality. And the boot can swallow plenty of luggage too. Okay it may look like a ‘third world country’ car, but you cannot deny it has some compelling strengths. The Dzire, on the other hand, is a clever Indian attempt by taking the popularity of the Swift and imparting it with some luggage-swallowing capability. The Dzire has all the positives and negatives of the Swift, except for the boot of course. The powertrains of both cars – again, both diesel and petrol – are well-matched in terms of frugality and reliability. The petrol in the Swift is breezy while the Logan offers a 1.4 and 1.6, the former being a bit gutless and the latter has more pep. The Logan 1.5 stretches a drop of diesel till kingdom come, while the Dzire DDiS is more fun to pilot. Our choice? The Logan 1.5 and the Dzire 1.3 petrol.
