It all started when Toyota and Honda began recalling the Prius and City. Then it was BMW in recalling the X5 and X6 is the USA, and now, it's Maruti.

Maruti has discovered a slight problem with the fuel pump on its A-star. The company has stated that if fuel is filled till the brim, beyond the auto cut off position, there is the likelihood of leakage of fuel from the mounting area. While Maruti has stated that there have been no problems reported by customers so far, they have taken the proactive step of looking into the matter in order to avert problems in the future.

The company has stated that they monitor the quality of their vehicles through feedback and internal analysis. In one such survey they discovered an anomaly in the fuel tank, all belonging to a lot of cars manufactured in August 2009. Since they made the discovery in November 2009, within a month Maruti contacted customers and are running checks on all 1 lakh units, including the ones that have been exported.

According to a press release from the company's corporate communications division: "We (Maruti) are changing fuel pump gasket and O ring at no cost to customer.  We are midway through the checking activity and hope to complete it soon. The final cost arrived at on this account will be shared with the supplier partner.”

I bought my A star during March 2009 Up to now I have driven almost 10000 KMs in city as well as outside. As far as driving is concerned its comfortable without a single problem But the milieage I am getting is 12 kms per litre in city and 15-16 kms per litre in highways can maruthi suzuki clarify is it because of faulty fuel pump or wrong publicity by company that it gives 19.6 kms per litre.

@Dr Vivek P ,All the respective dealers in the city are found and indicated by Maruti. The dealers will call you in-personal (in case your A-star needs to be checked). Other A-star customers need not have to worry.refer http://twitter.com/SuzukiAStar
