The mother of all comparisons. On one hand is the car that defined motoring in India for the last 25 years and the other that will define motoring in India for the next 25. The Nano is built keeping modern requirements in mind - such as good bottom end torque, crisp handling, better body control, ride and safety. On these counts, the Nano is a wee bit ahead of the effervescent Maruti. It's also a neat looker, something the Maruti never really boasted of. But the 800 has a couple of aces under its sleeve - such as better acceleration numbers, better top speed, a proven three-cylinder motor, great reliability and Maruti's unflappable service network. The two-cylinder motor of the Nano is loud, but the three-cylinder motor on the 800 isn't vibe free either. Both will return good fuel efficiency figures, but it's the Nano that beats it to the goalposts. That and other things should be enough to crown it a winner.

i think..maruti 800 is surley the leader of the streets and and maruti should try to take it further moer by improving engine and sterring and putting some more luxurys like power steering ,power windows etc.also booster brakes should be there.i have been drinving the car for around last 6 years n it feels the same .lovable

When maruti arrived in the Indian market the reaction was just like this;it was called a Maa rotti or mother crying because of the safety factor compared to the ambassador and priemer padmani. Now all the motor cycle and scooter manufacture are worried that a car so close to their price range will be bad for them. The person who sits in a Nano enjoys the benefit of a car and a fraction of what the maruti cost. Resale is out; except that what you get for scrap, that will be the position in the next two years. Nano is great it also kills discrimination in the society. Your servant or ayaha may also meet you on the road in a car.

What about resale. Even after 15 years, Maruti runs trouble free. What about Nano ? If one of the 2 cylinders of Nano does not ignite, the power is reduced by 50%. Where as in case of Maruti, if one of the 3 cylinders does not ignire, the power is reduced by 33%.

Nano looks like an auto rickshaw with 4 wheels . Also there are quality and reliability issues . And Tata's service is almost non existent compared to Maruti's. Save a few thousand and regret for a few years

As per veiwes both the vehicle walk parallel in styling and comfort. as the nano got two cylinder engine as of the companies successful model ACE which is not good enough for a four seater family car. but in the other hand maruti 800 had a unbeatable success glory of 25 years. its ugly not comfortable and not much powerful either, still its making a big marginal profit for the company. if we rank them again i think maruti will take the pride not in case we consider price.

In all respect Nano is better, like fuel consumption, A/C, price, inside space. Specially at this time of fuel price hike, nano will be miles ahead

Nano = auto on 4 wheels Maruti = Maturity You dont buy a car for looks but to get from point A to Point B. Maruti does the job, Nano may leave you stranded.

I\'ll agree with Mr.Navin Patil, and of course it not poorly engineered, rather its smartly redefined from the grass root level. It offers bit more then M800 in that price range and definitely as safe as other small cars.

Nano is the car for lower middle class people who desires a four wheeler when thir family grows in numbers and also want to do away with the insecurity offered by two wheelers. Yes!! Nano is the changeover from the two wheeler to the four wheeler for the common man. You cannot comparte Nano with Maruti800 as a comparison can be made between similarly designed and similarly powered and similarly priced cars.Nano is the true Indian car in every respect and the future hope of an Indian of lower middle c;lass origin.

Its simple. If you want to drive a 'car' get the 800 and if you can bear to be seen driving a refrigerator on wheels; get the NANO

I think Nano is better than Maruti because after all Maruti is only Indian by name & its technology made up from Japan but Nano is for Indian by Indian.

comparing apples to oranges is not a good idea. both cars fall into two entirely different categories. maruti WAS the peoples car. nano IS THE PEOPLES CAR. as there is no comparison in price either.

on my view the maruthi 800 already joind in indian family as a partner, and also proved good performens in all condition without any problem. and good service. still the car on demand. but the nano,still go long run to show its capabilities on indian road condition,and raising tecnical problems.
