Another Italian brand is making its way into India and this time around it is Maserati. This Fiat sub-brand is getting into India, courtesy Shreyans Motors who incidentally have been appointed the Ferrari distributor for the country a short while ago.
Maserati will officially launch its operations in India on April 6 in New Delhi. The brand will begin operations in the two cities of New Delhi and Mumbai and will expand to other cities later. Unlike its sister-brand Ferrari, Maserati are priced a bit more reasonably, though prices will still range north of Rs 1 crore.
The Quattroporte is Maserati's flagship sports saloon and features a 4.7-litre V8 engine with power ranging from 425-440 bhp. Probably the first of the ultra-luxe sports saloons, the Quattroporte's competition includes the likes of the Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera, both of which are available in the Rs 1.3-2.4 crore price bracket. Beautiful to look at, the Ferrari derived V8 also sounds fabulous as we discovered in our January issue shootout featuring the Panamera, Mercedes-Benz S500 and a Quattroporte GTS.
