Karthikeyan to NASCAR

Narain Karthikeyan is set to make his debut in the NASCAR Truck Series. Karthikeyan will be piloting a pick-up for the Starbeast Motorsports team starting from March 27th, with the round at Martinsville. After his stint in Formula 1 for the Jordan team in 2005, the fastest Indian in the world raced in the Le Mans Series and Speedcar Series as well as A1 GP. His move to NASCAR though, is like that of other former F1 drivers Juan Pablo Montoya, Scott Speed and most recently Nelson Piquet Jr.

Karthikeyan also becomes India's first NASCAR driver. According to a team statement the Starbeast Motorsports team is focussed on bringing the very American NASCAR racing series to international audiences. Thus, the team has been hiring foreign drivers. And Karthikeyan was the obvious move in order to make the sport popular in India.
