Volkswagen Polo Cup
The Volkswagen Polo Cup races had an interesting line up - other than the regular grid, guest drivers included Armaan Ebrahim, 2011 Polo Cup Champion Vishnu Sundar, Ameya Bafna (who competed in the 2010 edition of the championship) and Akhil Khushlani, who recently won the Silverstone round of the JK Racing Asia Series.
While it was Avdumber Hede who started the race on pole position, Mumbai's karting ace, Ameya Walawalkar pipped him to the lead in Race 1 and finished on the top step of the podium. Saurav Bandhopadhyay finished third.
With Race 2 run in the reverse grid format, it was Akhil Khushlani who started on pole, and stayed right there till the chequered flag fell. However, Khushlani was handed a five-place grid penalty for a jump start, which meant that Rahil Noorani took the win. Walawalkar made it to second place, while Saurav Bandhopadhyay took third place.
