The XF is one of the best in the current crop of mid-size luxury cars, and here's an addition to that line-up that makes the whole deal sweeter.

The new XF sportbrake, which is essentially an XF station wagon, combines the practicality of a wagon with the looks and driving dynamics of the XF.

The cargo area measures 550-litres when the rear seats are up and with them down, it increases to an enormous 1675-litres. Clever cubby holes and a compartamentalised cargo hold mean you can carry a lot more stuff in there. The rear suspension has been suitably modified with self-leveling air-suspension to cope with the extra load.

The practicality factor has been upped quite a bit with features like remote folding levers for the rear seats, cargo trays under the boot floor and a soft close rear hatch round our the package well.

The Jaguar XF sportbrake will be launched in the UK in the third quarter of this year. Seeing how none of the other luxury marques offer a wagon option here, we doubt this will make it here. We can hope though, can't we!
