Honda Cars India has always had a strong portfolio which has helped it cement its position in the Indian market. One of the most successful machines from Honda’s stable has been the city, which still is a favourite amongst sedan lovers in the country, and which also happens to be the backbone of the brand after so many years. Mr. Jnaneshwar Sen, Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India says “The City enjoys a unique position in HCIL’s portfolio and, indeed, the Indian automobile industry. In fact, Honda is often identified with the City in this market and holds almost an iconic status for its fans. Since its launch, Honda City has been a runaway success in the country. The current 4th Generation of Honda City has been able to maintain its No.1 position in the segment ever since launch. The brand equity of Honda City is the highest in segment and it continues to be a very aspirational car".
Honda’s entry level sedan – the Amaze has won laurels for the Japanese manufacturer since its launch, and the company is confident that the word of mouth and regular consumer engagement will help the brand increase its market share in the future. The Mobilio which was launched last year also has a popular TV campaign with renowned comedian Kapil Sharma. Further commenting on the Mobilio ad campaign Mr. Jnaneshwar said “The Kapil Sharma campaign is one of the most successful digital campaigns in industry and was well appreciated. We keep exploring new ideas to engage and reach with our audience. As of now we do not have any specific details to share on any digital campaign”.
The past two years have seen Honda expand its portfolio foraying into new segments and increasing their operating field. Honda plans to launch the new Jazz by the end of this fiscal, and they have also focussed their attention on expanding their network extensively. Honda currently has 232 facilites in 152 cities and plans to take this figure to 300 by March 2016. The list of laurels for Honda has been on the uprise as the Honda Amaze won the entry level sedan of the year; while the Honda City won the mid-sized sedan of the year at the CarDekho Accolodae awards – India’s only consumer choice awards.
