Honda Mobilio, the seven seater MPV has attracted more than 20,000 bookings in a span of two months of its launch. While according to the company’s sales report, the Japanese manufacturer already sold more than 8890 units in July and August, with September sales figures still to come. Honda MPV being a 7 seater family MPV is put against the likes Toyota Innova and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. It is priced at Rs 6.49 lakh for the base petrol while the diesel model starts at Rs 7.89 lakh (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
Based on the company’s latest philosophy 'Man Maximum, Machine Minimum', Honda Mobilio promises a sufficient space even for the third row passengers. The MPV is available in three grades E, S, V along with the sportier RS model.
Moreover, at the felicitation ceremony to deliver the 500th car at Manchester Honda, Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HCIL also said that company is working on a compact SUV for the Indian auto sector. Mr. Jnaneswar Sen said, ‘’Yes, we are studying it, as SUV is a potential and growing segment." He also mentioned that the company is planning to launch the new generation Jazz next year.
On being asked about Honda Mobilio’s performance, Mr Sen said that Mobilio is getting an excellent response with 20,000 bookings so far. He further added, company witnessed 88 per cent growth last year, while from April to October, the growth stood at 49 per cent and is expected to sustain it. In the last month of August, Honda sold 16,758 units, witnessing a growth of 88%; comparing to 8,913 units in August 2013.
