Amid sagging sales of its premium hatchback, Jazz, Honda Siel Cars India today launched a new version of the model priced at Rs 7.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is about Rs 30,000 more expensive than the existing variant.

The introduction of the new 'Jazz X' is part of the company's plans to shore up sales volumes of the car, which amounted to just 514 units in July, 2010, as against 1,037 units in the same month last year.

The latest variant will boast of new sporty exterior styling, enhanced interiors and several new value-added features, such as alloy wheels and an audio system equipped with a USB port, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) said in a statement.

After an initial rush at the time of launch in June, 2009, Jazz sales have gradually tapered off.

In the April-July period this fiscal, the Jazz clocked sales of 1,564 units, as against 3,069 units in the corresponding period last fiscal, down 49 per cent.

The Jazz is powered by a 1.2 petrol engine and has a five-speed manual transmission.

I have a Honda City 2004 model. till date I have had no problems with the car other than the normal wear and tear, as compared to other models I have owned earlier. and FYI there are Audio controls in both City and Jazz, current versions.

Buy Honda car at your own risk.I still curse myself for going for a Honda City in 2007.It is very expensive to maintain. Its components have low life. My battery failed in 18 months.Clutch after 4000KM.The service manager congratulated me saying most Honda City cars have a clutch life of about 2000Km only.Brake pads and spark plugs have very short life.It seems Honda source its components from used parts markets.

Quite surprised by your comments. Honda is known to be one of the most reliable cars in the West. Makes me wonder what kind of crap get washed up on Indian shores.

hi, still honda wants to sell few cars with big profit margins so that their dealers can be free from the headache of providing service to more cars which will happen if they price it lower. also there is still no controls for audio in the steering wheel?
