Honda Jazz - Jazz attack!
Spacious, good looking and economical? Yes. But what is with the steep price tag? We drive the new Honda Jazz

Does the Jazz look better in the flesh than in the pictures?
Make no mistake — the Jazz is a very proportionate design that looks oh-so state-of-the-art, despite the fact that it is almost three years old in world markets. Though it can be broadly called a hatchback, the overall effect is that of “Honey, I shrunk an Innova!” The ‘space-shell module’ design would have made Jules Verne proud.

Is this a proper five-seater?
Yes, it is. The Jazz is a five-seater, with a third seat belt for the middle passenger at the rear. But it helps if the third passenger is not a practising sumo wrestler.

Can we expect a funky interior?
The Jazz interior is spacious and extremely user friendly. The flexible ‘Magic’ seats can convert the interior to suit your hauling needs. It comes loaded with goodies and has lots of storage space too. The luggage area at the back may prompt prospective buyers to demand a third row of seating — it is that spacious! The dashboard is a bit of a complex design, but instrumentation is not as futuristic as in the Civic. And yes, you do get a CD player and not just an AUX and USB input, as in the case of the new City.

People should get their priorities right before trying to flame the Jazz for its pricing. There is nothing wrong with commanding a premium in an automobile market. Besides, the Jazz offers everything you need! It's as small as a large hatch and as spacious as a big sedan! It can hold quite a lot of luggage and is a fantastic City car. If people are going to say that at 7.5 lakhs and I'd rather buy an Innova, it's too expensive, then I suggest you get your head out of your *ahem*. you don't buy an Innova for city driving unless you're a turd. So don't even compare it. typical Indian mentality of wanting more car for less money! Very sad.

ahh,,,, A 500-700 indian still getting befooled by this Honda Ripoff product. A wake up call to indians who decide blindly to buy a Honda product. Same is the case with VW beetle. Indians have way too much at this point to splurge them on Jazz and Beetles....Damn

Test driving a Jazz was like driving a horse-its having power but not comfortable as desired from a car of this price tag... Its even better to go for two hatchback of 4 lac each then to have Jazz, just buying it is wastage of money

Are we indians are fool to buy a stupid hatchback for 8L onroad. Who the hell will buy it. Honestly the price tag should be 4 to 4.5L. Not worth morethan that. Honda got good name with their OHCs and about to lose it with their jazz.

The company should study the market before pricing the JAZZ..the Indian customer have always dream of having big Luxurious car and once they are paying the same money, the would opted for purchase of big saloon not the small hatchback. I think company should re-priced between 5.50 lacs for Little JAZZ..then it give hard competition to its rivals..Fiat make an low price strategy by launching Grand Punto in Indian Market to grab the small car share of Auto Market.

over priced unsafe at high speeds honda determined to make fools of Indians.Front is sissy

the car is good but to those readers who have driven this car it certainly doesnt warrant this price especially as a luxury hatch. ASX i dont want it to be personal with ya but if you can afford it doesnt mean the price is right. as a landrover owner and audi owner i can afford it but that doesnt mean i have to agree on its price it should be 4 lakhs max as a honda city seems a better bargain if a person were to shell out 7+ lakhs INR in India

I think Honda has done another pricing blunder - After Honda Civic Hybrid - which was priced at 21 lakhs and when sales didnt pick up for a year then they brought it down by ~10 lakhs...Though sales wouldnt be a as bad as civic but Indian consumers have too many options in sedans and hatchbacks and in my view Honda wouldnt be able to sell it the way it has been able to do with City (premium over other C segment cars) Nikhil

Honda Jazz is not jazzy about its pricing strategy....a STRICT no no at Rs. 7 lac - even for a super Hatch wiht iVtec and everything else said about the car.

ok...@saravanan no man...a rip-off would be the new design of the site...completely taken from topgear...i knw that thats is what bsm aims to be in the indian magz space...and the earlier website design did suck...but a bit of orignality guys... and for the jazz...i love the looks of it...and its practical bits...in fact i would disagree with the article here to say that this one is the perfect single "city" car and not the honda city...which is slightly more focused at giving u snob image...i

Well , the problem is that the indian public is not ready for these cars , the jazz is not a hatch but more of a MPV with its size . Plus the puny 1.2 engine has most of its punch at the top end , so that requires heavy gearshift usage . But the main problem is its price tag , i could pay a little bit more & go for the city or go for the petrol linea which is a bargain compared to the jazz.

oh and just to come back on the price issue... honda india has a wayyyyyyyyyyyy lower product life cycle than others, esp maruti...so when maruti brings in the swift, it plans to earn from it for the next 20-25 yrs...while with honda one can be damn sure that india shall get the next model upgrade contemporaneously with the rest of the world (or there abouts) thus automatically that shall make them more expensive as they need to earn back money in a much much shorter period and then they shall

Heil Hondaaa... Congratulations on bringing such a world class product at a throw away price to India. We Indian will take some time before we get used to such kind of cars that give so much for so less money. Lazy people screaming expensive expensive..hell to them its not expensive at all. They have money to smoke and eat Jarda but no money to spend on car......cheapooo people

Last Friday when I visited your site expecting to be able to read such a write up on Jazz, I was disappointed to see the sate of your website. It was 2 full weeks into June and you guys had not bothered to change the image of the magazine to the June edition. My thoughts were a) either BS is paying you all well :) or b) you guys are busy testing cars and stuff and forgot to even think of bsmotoring.com Well nice crisp opinion on Jazz and a nice refreshing look to your website. Congratula

Bijoy, Expected a frank opinion from you man. How the hell can you say Jazz handles well at 3 digit speeds. It rocks like a boat, and the steering is so dead that the driver has no clue where the car is headed. At 7.43 lakhs Jazz is nothing but a rip-off.
