Two big launches on September 28 and there is a strong buzz in the air. Honda's cheapest offering in India, the Brio hatchback and Mahindra's boldest move since the Scorpio in 2002, the XUV500 will go through the song and dance routine on the same day.
The Honda Brio first. Probably the most important car since the launch of the City in 1998, the Brio is designed to be a urban hatch, what with its compact dimensions, light controls and peppy engine.

New Honda Brio test drive & review
The Brio will be powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine producing 88 bhp and 11.1 kgm of peak torque. The motor is identical to the one found on the Jazz, with minor changes to the gearing and ECU parameters. Mated to a five-speed manual, the Brio will probably come in four trim levels, possibly nicknamed the Brio, Brio E, Brio S and Brio V.
Pricing for the Brio is expected to be in the range of Rs 3.9 to 4.8 lakh. A compact diesel motor for the Brio will probably arrive around late-2013/early-2014.
