Former Toyota driver, Timo Glock, has been announced as the first driver for the new Manor Grand Prix team. Glock, who has driven for Toyota since 2008 and was also GP2 champion in 2007, was earlier linked with a move to the Renault team.
While Glock has admitted that he has had offers to drive for more established teams for 2010, the prospect of playing a key role in developing a car for a new team is what tipped things in the favour of Manor GP.
Manor GP headed by Nick Wirth (technical director, who formerly ran the Simtek F1 team) and John Booth (team principal).
Glock finished the 2009 F1 season in tenth position in the driver's championship, despite missing out on two races, after a crash at the qualifying session of the Japanese GP put him out of action with a broken leg.
