You’ve seen the teutonic beast of the RS5, now it’s time to take a look at the other end of the spectrum with the new Audi A2 metro concept. It has a purely electric drive-train consisting of a front mounted high torque electric motor that produces 116hp routed through a single speed transmission.

It might not seem like much, but the car weighs less than 1150kg so performance is bound to be sprightly. Steering and brakes are done by-wire in addition to drive-by-wire, so now, the steering wheels and pedals aren’t actually linked to any mechanical components.

The last A2 might not have set the sales charts on fire, but it was a brilliant machine in terms of packaging and innovative features. This new one seems to be following in the same footsteps, and if it does go into production in some form, it should make for a great city car!
