Four door sports cars - Fast fours

Aston Martin Rapide

The Rapide is possibly the best looking four-door you can buy. It comes with a potent 6-litre V12 powerplant placed in the front, sending power to the rear wheels through a six-speed transmission. Unlike some family cruisers which try to hide what's lurking under the engine bay, the Rapide flaunts its V12 engine by way of its scintillating exhaust note. You know something special is headed your way when you can hear it from a mile away! The Rapide bears a strong resemblance to the rest of the Aston Martin line-up, so much so that you can't tell one model from the other unless you look at the badge at the back. That's not a bad thing, because this car is definitely lust-worthy.

There's only room for four inside the cabin, so you might have to choose favourites among your kids, but for the people that you do take, the sports seats are very comfortable, even over long distances. For the driver, the Rapide offers performance that rivals most supercars. So, you have something that looks like a supercar, handles like one and sounds absolutely amazing! If you fancy this in your garage, the Rapide is yours for Rs 2.2 crore, ex-showroom, Mumbai.

Porsche Panamera

The Panamera, Porsche's somewhat controversial four-door offering (purists hate it) offers the widest variety of performance you can think of. Starting with the bog-standard Panamera, which is powered by a 3.6 litre flat-six making 300 bhp, you can go all the way to the 550 bhp, V8-engined Panamera turbo. There's even a diesel version available for those looking to cross continents on the cheap.

Like most of the other models Porsche offers, the Panamera has great everyday usability mixed with hyper-car performance, so you can drop your kids off at school on your way to the track, finish a few fast laps and pick them up again on the way home. What more could you want?

If you're thinking of buying one, be sure of exactly what you want out of the car, or the sheer number of options on offer will confuse you! The Panamera also happens to be one of the cheaper four-door supercars you can get, starting at Rs 1.18 crore, ex-showroom Mumbai and going up to Rs 2.65 crore for the top of the line Turbo S variant. Of course, when you are in this league, there isn't a limit on the amount of options you can order.
