Ford have just launched the new Endeavour at a conference in New Delhi today. Priced competitively at Rs 15.99 lakh for the 4x2, 2.5-litre variant and Rs 17.99 lakh for the 4x4, 3.0-litre TDCI automatic variant, the Endeavour is pitched at the likes of the Chevrolet Captiva and Toyota Fortuner.
The Endeavour now features new head lamps, a new grille and bumpers, revised tail lamps and fog lamps as well as revised front fenders. There's more focus on chrome on the exterior, with a softer looking front end. On the inside, the car now sports freshened up interiors, electric release ORVMs and a touch-screen DVD system with satellite navigation.
The Endeavour, along with ABS & EBD also sports side-airbags along with driver and passenger airbags for the 3.0-litre TDCI. The 3.0-litre also now comes with a 5-speed automatic, replacing the 5-speed manual, with shift-on-the-fly 4-wheel drive. Power rating for the two engines remains the same, with the 2500cc TDCI now producing 141.5 bhp of peak power while the 3000cc TDCI produces 156 bhp of peak power.
Ford's launch comes at the back of the Toyota Fortuner's unveiling, which has received tremendous interest and has resulted in a seven month waiting for the premium Toyota SUV. Whether the average joe will now look at the Endeavour, given the Fortuner's long waiting periods remains to be seen.
