Think, for a few seconds, about some of the worlds most capable off-roaders and surely, after maybe the Hummer and Defender, the Mercedes G-Wagen comes to mind, no?
Well, the Force Gurkha is more or less a G-Class, with all it's legendary off-roading abilities intact. And Force Motors launched an updated version of the Gurkha today featuring a new front fascia with different grille, bumpers and headlapms.
The main change, though, is under the hood, which now holds a 2.6-litre Mercedes-Benz engine making 80 bhp of peak power and a solid 23.4 kgm of peak torque. This engine also does duty in several other Force Motors' products. The locking differentials, 5-speed manual transmission and class-leading 210 mm of ground clearance also remain intact.
For now though, the Force Gurkha is available only in BS III markets, but there is a BS IV compliant model in the flanks. It aims to go head-on against the Mahindra Thar.
The soft-top version of the Gurkha starts at Rs 6.25 Lakh for the 4x2 version, while the 4x4 soft-top version costs Rs 8.35. The top-end hard-top 4x4 variant is available at a price of Rs 8.5 Lakh. All prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
